How to Get from Incheon Airport to Sokcho — Direct Bus Guide

Can you land at Incheon and head straight to the east coast without stopping in Seoul? Yes — direct buses connect Incheon Airport with Sokcho.
The catch is that departures are limited, so this needs a little planning. Get it wrong and you’ll spend hours waiting at the airport. Here’s how it works.
The direct intercity bus
Buses to Sokcho Intercity Bus Terminal depart from the bus stops at Terminal 1 (T1) and Terminal 2 (T2).
- Journey time — about 3 to 3.5 hours
- Arrives at — Sokcho Intercity Bus Terminal
- Booking — the T-money intercity site, the BusTago app, or the airport ticket booth on the arrivals floor
- Timetable — the airport’s official bus page
The critical part: check the timetable first
There are only a few departures per day. If your flight arrival doesn’t line up, you’ll be waiting a long time.
Specifically:
- Allow generously for immigration and baggage. An hour or more to get out is common
- T1 and T2 are separate buildings. The shuttle between them takes 15–20 minutes, so confirm which terminal you land at
- On a late-evening arrival, the last Sokcho bus may already have gone
If the times don’t line up — go via Seoul
When the airport bus doesn’t work, transferring in Seoul is often faster anyway.
- Take an airport bus or the AREX train to Seoul Express Bus Terminal (Gangnam)
- Catch one of the frequent express buses to Sokcho (about 2.5 hours)
Gangnam departures are frequent, so waiting time is short. Better to spend the time moving than sitting at the airport for three hours.

This route has another advantage. Gangnam express buses arrive at Sokcho Express Bus Terminal, which is a 3-minute walk from our restaurant, with the beach right behind. That’s considerably closer than where the airport bus drops you.
Arriving in Sokcho
By airport bus — you arrive at Sokcho Intercity Bus Terminal, on the city side. About 5 minutes to us by taxi, and the fare is modest.
Via Seoul by express bus — you arrive at Sokcho Express Bus Terminal. A 3-minute walk. No taxi needed at all.
Either way, Sokcho Beach sits directly behind our building. After a long flight, we’d suggest eating first and then walking out onto the sand. It resets you remarkably well.
For foreign travellers
Language is not a problem
- This site is available in English, Japanese, Chinese and Spanish (English · 日本語 · 中文 · Español)
- Our table ordering kiosks are multilingual. Even with no Korean at all, you can switch the language and order from the screen
- You don’t need to flag down a server, so there’s no pressure
What to eat first
Long flights leave your stomach unsettled.
- Mulhoe — cold and tangy, it revives your appetite. Note that ours is on the spicy side
- Abalone porridge — soft and mild. The safest option if you’re feeling delicate
- Sea urchin seaweed soup / snow crab rice bowl — not spicy, and satisfying
Bus tips
- Reserved seating is the safe choice — more reliable than boarding with a transit card
- Luggage holds are generous; large suitcases are fine
- There’s one rest-stop break along the way — use the toilets then
Cash and cards
Cards work almost everywhere in Korea. We accept cards and the common mobile payment methods. Some traditional market stalls are cash-only, so carry a little.
